Ingredients

1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter

1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup (125g) powdered sugar

2 large eggs

2 large egg yolks

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

Optional: powdered sugar and fresh berries for garnish

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease four ramekins (6-ounce size) with butter and lightly dust with cocoa powder to prevent the cakes from sticking.

Melt the Chocolate and Butter: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth. Allow it to cool slightly.

Mix the Sugars and Eggs: In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, eggs, and egg yolks. Add the melted chocolate mixture and the vanilla extract. Whisk until fully combined and smooth.

Incorporate the Dry Ingredients: Sift the all-purpose flour and salt into the chocolate mixture. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the batter using a spatula, being careful not to overmix.

Fill the Ramekins: Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling them about 3/4 full.

Bake: Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes. The edges should be firm, but the center will still be soft and jiggly.

Cool Slightly: Remove from the oven and let the cakes sit for 1 minute. Then, run a knife around the edges to loosen them.

Invert and Serve: Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Gently lift the ramekin to release the cake. Let them sit for a few moments before serving.

Garnish: Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm, optionally topped with fresh berries or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.
