Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1 tsp salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed to 110°F (43°C)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted, plus more for brushing

2 large eggs, at room temperature

1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

1 egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar, sprinkle the yeast over the top, and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 cups of flour and salt.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the activated yeast mixture and the wet ingredients into the flour mixture. Use a wooden spoon or your hands to mix until a shaggy dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, adding more flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the kneaded dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean towel or plastic wrap, and allow it to rise in a warm area for 1-2 hours or until it has doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball and place them into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a clean towel and let them rise again for about 30-45 minutes or until they have doubled in size.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) about 15 minutes before baking.

Egg Wash: Gently brush the tops of the rolls with the egg wash for a golden finish.

Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped on the bottom.

Cool and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven, brush the tops with melted butter, and let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before serving.

Enjoy these ultra-soft dinner rolls fresh from the oven, perfect for family gatherings and holiday celebrations!
