Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup finely chopped onion

1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 cup beef broth

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 cup sliced mushrooms

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, beaten egg, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.

Form the mixture into 4 oval patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and allow it to heat up. Add the patties to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until browned and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and set aside.

In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms. Cook for 2-3 minutes until they become tender.

Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir to combine, cooking for an additional minute.

Gradually add the beef broth, soy sauce, and ketchup to the skillet, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens (about 3-5 minutes). You can adjust the thickness by adding more broth if needed.

Return the patties to the skillet, coating them with the sauce. Simmer gently for about 5 minutes to warm them through and allow them to absorb the flavors.

Serve the Salisbury steaks hot, garnished with fresh chopped parsley.
