Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1/4 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred)

2 tablespoons Thai sweet chili sauce

1 tablespoon soy sauce

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped

1/4 cup cilantro, chopped

1 tablespoon lime juice

Salt and pepper to taste

4 whole wheat burger buns

Sliced cucumber, for topping

Sliced avocado, for topping

Extra Thai sweet chili sauce, for drizzling

Optional: lettuce leaves and sliced red chili for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons of Thai sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, green onions, cilantro, lime juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; do not overwork the mixture.

Shape the Patties: Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

Chill for Better Texture: Place the patties on a plate and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes to help them hold together during cooking.

Cook the Patties: Heat a grill or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Lightly grease with cooking spray or a small amount of oil. Cook the turkey patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through to an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).

Toast the Buns: If desired, place the burger buns on the grill or skillet cut-side down for the last few minutes of cooking to achieve a nice crispy texture.

Assemble the Burgers: Spread a thin layer of extra Thai sweet chili sauce on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place the cooked turkey patty on top, then layer with sliced cucumber and avocado. Add any additional toppings like lettuce or sliced red chili for extra crunch and flavor. Top with the other half of the bun.

Serve: Enjoy the burgers immediately with a side of sweet potato fries or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
