Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1 cup Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce

1/2 cup chicken broth

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup sliced onions (optional)

1 cup sliced bell peppers (optional)

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken: Place the boneless chicken breasts in the bottom of the crockpot.

Mix the Sauce: In a separate bowl, combine Sweet Baby Ray’s barbecue sauce, chicken broth, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix well until all the ingredients are combined.

Layer with Veggies (Optional): If using, layer the sliced onions and bell peppers on top of the chicken for added flavor and texture.

Pour the Sauce: Pour the prepared barbecue sauce mixture over the chicken breasts ensuring they are evenly coated.

Cook: Cover the crockpot and set it on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

Shred the Chicken: Once the cooking time is up, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the crockpot, mixing it with the sauce.

Serve: Spoon the sweet and smoky chicken onto buns or plates and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Enjoy your meal!
