Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1/2 cup buttermilk

1 cup chopped toasted pecans

1/2 cup raisins (optional)

1/4 cup maple syrup (for drizzling)

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5-inch loaf pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated and brown sugars using an electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk. Start and end with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.

Fold in Pecans and Raisins: Gently fold in the toasted pecans and raisins (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Transfer and Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 55-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Drizzle: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle with maple syrup before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.

Serve: Slice and serve your Sweet Alabama Pecan Bread warm or at room temperature, perfect for breakfast or as a delightful snack!
