Ingredients

For the Brownies:

1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, melted

2 cups (400g) granulated sugar

1 cup (220g) packed brown sugar

4 large eggs

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract

1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour

1 cup (85g) unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 cup (180g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Salted Caramel Sauce:

1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

6 tablespoons (85g) unsalted butter, diced

1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream

1 teaspoon sea salt

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

For Garnish:

Extra sea salt for sprinkling

Instructions

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

    Make Brownie Batter:

      - In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until smooth.

        - Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

          - In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.

            - Fold in the chocolate chips.

Bake Brownies: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.

                Prepare Salted Caramel Sauce:

                  - While the brownies are baking, make the caramel sauce. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the sugar, stirring constantly until it turns a beautiful amber color. Be careful not to burn it!

                    - Once the sugar is melted, quickly whisk in the butter and let it melt completely. Remove from heat and carefully stir in the heavy cream, followed by the sea salt and vanilla extract. Set aside to cool slightly.

Assemble Brownies: After the initial 15 minutes of baking, remove the brownies from the oven. Drizzle about half of the salted caramel sauce over the top of the brownie layer. Use a knife to gently swirl it into the batter.

Top with Remaining Batter: Pour the remaining brownie batter over the caramel layer and spread it out evenly. Return the pan to the oven and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Finish with Caramel: Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and drizzle the remaining salted caramel sauce on top while they are still warm. Sprinkle extra sea salt on top for that perfect flavor contrast.

Cool and Serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, lift them out using the parchment paper, cut into squares, and serve!
