Ingredients

8 chicken drumsticks

1 cup bourbon (choose your favorite brand)

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup ketchup

1/4 cup apple cider vinegar

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

2 teaspoons smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the bourbon, brown sugar, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Marinate the Drumsticks: Place the chicken drumsticks in a large resealable plastic bag or a deep dish. Pour the marinade over the drumsticks, making sure they are fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or ideally overnight for maximum flavor.

Preheat the Oven: When ready to cook, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Arrange Drumsticks for Baking: Remove the drumsticks from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and place them on a lined baking sheet. Make sure they have some space between each piece for even cooking.

Bake the Drumsticks: Bake the drumsticks in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Prepare the Glaze: While the drumsticks are baking, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring it to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes, or until it slightly thickens. This will become your glaze.

Glaze the Drumsticks: After the first 25 minutes, remove the drumsticks from the oven. Brush them generously with the thickened glaze, then return them to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until they are caramelized and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).

Serve: Remove the drumsticks from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, then serve warm with your favorite sides!
