Ingredients

1 bag (10 oz) tortilla chips

1 lb ground beef or turkey

1 taco seasoning packet

1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed

1 cup corn (fresh or frozen)

1 medium-sized avocado, diced

2 cups shredded iceberg lettuce

1 cup diced tomatoes

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup sour cream

1 cup salsa

Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Cook the Ground Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain excess grease if necessary. Stir in the taco seasoning and follow the package instructions to add water; let it simmer on low for about 5 minutes until thickened.

Prepare the Tortilla Base: On a large serving platter or a deep salad bowl, evenly spread a layer of tortilla chips at the bottom for a crunchy base.

      Layer the Salad:

        - Evenly spoon the seasoned meat mixture over the tortilla chips as the first layer.

          - Next, add the black beans evenly as the second layer.

            - Follow with a layer of corn for the third layer.

              - Gently sprinkle the diced avocado over the corn for the fourth layer.

                - Add the shredded lettuce as the fifth layer.

                  - Top with diced tomatoes as the sixth layer.

                    - Finish with a generous layer of shredded cheddar cheese as the seventh layer.

Final Touches: In a bowl, mix the sour cream and salsa together to create a flavorful dressing. Drizzle this mixture over the top of the taco salad.

Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle fresh chopped cilantro over the top for an aromatic finish, and serve with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over before digging in.
