Ingredients

1 large loaf of crusty Italian bread or French baguette

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

4-5 cloves of garlic, minced

1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a kick)

1/4 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded (optional for cheesy variation)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Prepare the Garlic Butter: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, Parmesan cheese, sea salt, black pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly incorporated.

Slice the Bread: Place the loaf of bread on a cutting board. Carefully slice it in half lengthwise, then slice again at 1-inch intervals to create smaller pieces. Be cautious not to cut all the way through the bottom of the loaf, leaving the crust intact.

Spread the Garlic Butter: Generously spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut surfaces of the bread. Make sure to get into the crevices for maximum flavor. If you are using mozzarella cheese, sprinkle it evenly over the buttered sides.

Wrap in Foil: Wrap the bread halves tightly in aluminum foil, shiny side out. This will help to keep the bread soft and allow the flavors to meld.

Bake the Bread: Place the wrapped bread on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the butter has melted and the bread is hot.

Broil for Extra Crispiness: If you desire a crispy top, remove the foil for the last 5 minutes and switch the oven to broil. Keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t burn; you want it golden and bubbly.

Serve Hot: Once baked and toasted, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Pull apart the pieces and serve warm as an appetizer, side dish, or snack!
