For the Brownies:

1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

For the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Swirl:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.

    Make the Brownie Batter:

      - In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in granulated sugar.

        - Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then mix in eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.

          - In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined (do not overmix).

            Prepare the Pumpkin Cream Cheese Mixture:

              - In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the pumpkin puree, powdered sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined and creamy.

                Layer the Brownies:

                  - Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

                    - Dollop half of the pumpkin cream cheese mixture over the brownie batter. Use a knife or a toothpick to lightly swirl the cream cheese mixture into the brownie batter.
