Ingredients

1.5 lbs fresh Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved

3 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon sea salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

1/4 cup toasted walnuts or pecans (optional)

Fresh lemon zest (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature is key for achieving that perfect crispiness.

Prepare the Brussels Sprouts: Rinse the Brussels sprouts under cold water and trim off the woody ends. Slice them in half for even cooking.

Season: In a large bowl, toss the halved Brussels sprouts with the olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. Ensure they are evenly coated.

Roast: Spread the seasoned Brussels sprouts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Avoid overcrowding to allow for even roasting.

Bake: Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, turning them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside.

Add Balsamic and Cheese: Remove sprouts from the oven once they reach desired crispness. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over them and, if using, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to melt the cheese slightly.

Serve: After removing them from the oven, let them cool for a minute. Toss in the toasted nuts if desired for added crunch and flavor. Garnish with fresh lemon zest before serving.

Enjoy! Serve the crispy Brussels sprouts warm as a delicious side dish or a healthy snack.
