Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup hot fudge sauce (plus extra for drizzling)

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and set aside.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar. Mix well until combined. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and buttermilk until smooth.

Incorporate Fudge Sauce: Gently fold in the hot fudge sauce into the wet mixture until just combined.

Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not over-mix. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.

Pour into Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake: Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top gets too dark, loosely cover with foil during the last 10 minutes of baking.

Cool: Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve: Once cool, drizzle with additional hot fudge sauce and slice to serve. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
