Ingredients

1 lb lean beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced

2 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 bell pepper (red or yellow), sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1-inch piece ginger, grated

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce (optional)

1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water (optional for thickening)

2 tablespoons olive oil

Cooked brown rice or quinoa, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), honey, and sesame oil. Let it marinate for at least 20 minutes (or up to 1 hour for more flavor).

Heat the Pan: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated beef in a single layer (do this in batches if needed) and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Sauté Vegetables: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, sliced bell pepper, and broccoli florets. Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until the veggies are tender but still crisp.

Combine and Sauce: Return the beef to the skillet with the veggies. If you prefer a thicker sauce, add the cornstarch mixture to the skillet now. Toss everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the beef is heated through and the sauce has thickened slightly.

Serve: Serve the beef and broccoli hot over cooked brown rice or quinoa. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
