Ingredients

1 (30 oz) package frozen hash browns, thawed

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 cup sour cream

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup (or cream of mushroom for a vegetarian option)

1 small onion, finely chopped

1/2 cup melted butter (1 stick)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 cup corn flakes (optional, for topping)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Casserole Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine the thawed hash browns, sharp cheddar cheese, sour cream, cream of chicken (or mushroom) soup, chopped onion, melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well incorporated.

Transfer to Baking Dish: Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with non-stick spray or a bit of butter. Pour the hash brown mixture into the prepared dish, spreading it out evenly.

Optional Topping: If using corn flakes, sprinkle them evenly over the top of the casserole for added crunch.

Bake the Casserole: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before cutting into squares and serving. Enjoy your cheesy delight!
