Ingredients

1 medium head of green cabbage, thinly sliced

4 slices of thick-cut bacon, chopped

1 medium onion, finely chopped

4 cloves of garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Cook the Bacon: In a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat, add the chopped bacon. Cook until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon from the skillet, leaving the fat behind.

Sauté Onion and Garlic: In the same skillet with the rendered bacon fat, add the chopped onion. Cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Then, stir in the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.

Add Cabbage: Gradually add the sliced cabbage to the skillet, tossing it with the onion and garlic. Sauté until the cabbage starts to soften and wilt, about 7-10 minutes.

Season the Dish: Stir in the cooked bacon, olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the flavors.

Add Apple Cider Vinegar: (Optional) For a tangy twist, drizzle the apple cider vinegar over the mixture and stir to combine. Cook for an additional minute.

Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the fried cabbage to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm as a side dish or a main course!
