Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

1/2 lb ground pork

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 tbsp olive oil

1 cup French onion dip (store-bought or homemade)

1/2 cup breadcrumbs

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped (or 1 tsp dried thyme)

1 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp black pepper

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (for topping)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Sauté Onions: In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onion and sauté until soft and caramelized, about 10-12 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, sautéed onions, French onion dip, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.

Shape the Meatloaf: Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the meatloaf from the oven and top with shredded Swiss cheese.

Finish Baking: Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. The internal temperature of the meatloaf should reach 160°F (70°C).

Rest and Slice: Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This helps retain the juices.

Serve: Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with your choice of sides, such as mashed potatoes or a fresh salad.
