Ingredients

1.5 lbs beef steak (sirloin or tenderloin), cut into 1-inch cubes

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

1 medium onion, finely chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups beef broth

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Season the Steak: In a bowl, season the steak cubes with salt and pepper. Ensure each cube is evenly coated.

Sear the Steak: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the steak cubes in batches, searing them until they are browned on all sides, about 4-5 minutes. Transfer the browned steak to a plate and set aside.

Sauté Onions and Garlic: In the same skillet, add the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Prepare the Gravy: Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Scrape up any brown bits from the bottom of the skillet for added flavor.

Combine and Thicken: Return the seared steak cubes to the skillet. Let them simmer in the gravy for about 10 minutes. Stir in the cornstarch mixture to thicken the gravy, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes until the gravy reaches your desired consistency.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley. Serve warm over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
