Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

1 cup milk

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 large egg

1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (optional)

1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, garlic powder (if using), and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Ensure all dry ingredients are evenly combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, and egg until well blended. If you're using chives, mix them in now for added flavor.

Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are perfectly fine.

Add Cheese: Fold in the remaining cheddar cheese and grated parmesan, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Bake the Bread: Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the loaf from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy while warm!
