Ingredients

1 pound of fresh broccoli florets

3 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon black pepper

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional for a cheesy version)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature helps achieve that perfect crispy texture.

Prepare the Broccoli: Rinse the broccoli florets thoroughly under cold water, then pat them dry with a kitchen towel. Make sure they are well dried to ensure they crisp up in the oven.

Season the Broccoli: In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, crushed red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Add the broccoli florets to the bowl and toss them until they are evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.

Spread on a Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Spread the seasoned broccoli florets in a single layer on the sheet, ensuring they have enough space between them for even roasting.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes.

Add Cheese (if desired): After 15 minutes, remove the baking sheet from the oven. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the florets. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the broccoli is tender and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Remove the crispy baked broccoli from the oven, and let it cool for a couple of minutes before serving. You can also sprinkle some freshly cracked black pepper or more cheese on top if desired.
