12 oz fettuccine pasta

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Zest of 1 large lemon

Juice of 1 large lemon

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

½ cup fresh parsley, chopped

½ cup fresh basil, chopped

Additional grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.

    Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.

      Make the Cream Sauce: Reduce the heat to medium-low. Pour the heavy cream into the skillet, stirring gently. Allow it to simmer for a minute, then gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and creamy.

        Add Lemon Flavor: Stir in the lemon zest, lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix until everything is well combined.

          Combine Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked fettuccine to the creamy lemon sauce. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired sauce consistency.

            Add Fresh Herbs: Gently fold in the chopped parsley and basil, reserving a little for garnish. Adjust the seasoning if needed.
