Ingredients

8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon lemon juice

Salt and black pepper to taste

2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Cook the Pasta:

    - In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine or spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about ½ cup of the pasta water.

      Sauté the Shrimp:

        - In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the shrimp and season with salt and black pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

          Prepare the Garlic Sauce:

            - In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.

              Create the Creamy Base:

                - Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Gradually add in the grated Parmesan cheese, mixing until the sauce is smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, gradually stir in some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.

                  Finish the Dish:

                    - Add the cooked shrimp back into the skillet along with the lemon juice. Stir to coat the shrimp in the creamy sauce. Add the drained pasta to the skillet and toss to combine everything thoroughly. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

                      Serve:

                        - Plate the creamy garlic shrimp pasta, garnishing with fresh parsley. Serve with lemon wedges on the side for a burst of freshness.
