Ingredients

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

½ cup granulated sugar

1 tsp salt

½ cup whole milk, warmed

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

½ cup brown sugar, packed

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

¼ cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)

1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)

2 tbsp cream cheese, softened (for frosting)

1-2 tbsp milk (for frosting)

½ tsp vanilla extract

Optional: chopped pecans or walnuts for filling

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a mixer bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk with the melted butter. Allow it to cool slightly before adding the eggs.

Mix: Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients. Gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time, until a soft dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.

Prepare the Filling: In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and chopped nuts (if using). Set aside.

Roll Out: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it onto a lightly floured surface. Roll it into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.

Spread the Filling: Spread the softened butter over the rolled dough, then evenly sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture across the surface.

Roll Up: Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a tight log. Pinch the seams to seal.

Slice: Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving some space between them.

Second Rise: Cover and let them rise again for about 30 minutes. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) during this time.

Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.

Make the Frosting: In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered sugar, cream cheese, milk, and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Adjust the consistency with more milk if needed.

Frost: Once the rolls have cooled slightly, drizzle the frosting over them generously.

Serve & Enjoy: Serve warm and enjoy your festive treat with family and friends!
