Ingredients

1 cup cream cheese, softened

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

½ cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Cream the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and butter together using an electric mixer until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Add Sugars and Egg: Gradually add granulated sugar and brown sugar to the cream cheese and butter mixture. Beat until fully combined. Then, add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well incorporated.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips (and chopped nuts if using) ensuring an even distribution throughout the dough.

Scoop the Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop heaping spoonfuls of the dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.

Bake: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers have set.

Cool: Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serve: Enjoy the cookies warm or at room temperature, savoring the melt-in-your-mouth texture and delicious flavor!
