Ingredients

2 ripe bananas, mashed

1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

Preheat Your Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the bars later.

Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter. Stir until well combined. Add both sugars and mix until smooth, then incorporate the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.

Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until evenly mixed.

Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Fold in Extras: Gently fold in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if using) until distributed throughout the batter.

Pour and Spread: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and use a spatula to spread it evenly.

Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs (but not wet batter).

Cool and Cut: Once baked, let the bars cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into squares or rectangles.

Serve and Enjoy: These delicious Chocolate Chip Banana Bars can be served warm or at room temperature. Enjoy as a delightful snack or dessert!
