Ingredients

2 pounds Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and diced

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

10 fresh sage leaves, roughly chopped

Additional sage leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Boil the Potatoes: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the diced Yukon Gold potatoes and cook until fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.

Brown the Butter: In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Continue cooking, whisking frequently, until the butter turns a golden brown color and starts to smell nutty, about 5-7 minutes. Be careful not to burn it.

Infuse with Sage: Add the chopped sage leaves to the browned butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until the leaves become crisp and the butter is fragrant.

Mash the Potatoes: Using a potato masher or a ricer, mash the drained potatoes in the pot until smooth.

Combine Ingredients: Pour the browned sage butter mixture over the mashed potatoes. Add the heavy cream, whole milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until everything is well combined and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Serve: Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish. If desired, garnish with additional sage leaves and a drizzle of the browned butter. Enjoy your holiday staple!
