Ingredients

For the Dough:

4 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed (about 110°F)

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

For the Filling:

1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1 tbsp ground cinnamon

1 cup pecans, chopped

1/4 cup bourbon

For the Sticky Topping:

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup unsalted butter

1 cup pecans, halved

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy. Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the mixture, followed by the flour. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Make the Filling: In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. In another bowl, combine the chopped pecans and bourbon.

Roll Out the Dough: After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

Add the Filling: Spread the cinnamon butter mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough. Sprinkle the bourbon-soaked pecans on top.

Roll and Cut: Starting from one long edge, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces and place them cut-side up in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.

Prepare the Sticky Topping: In a saucepan, combine maple syrup, brown sugar, and butter. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly. Pour the sticky topping over the buns and sprinkle the halved pecans on top.

Final Proofing: Cover the pan with plastic wrap and let the buns rise again for about 30 minutes until puffed.

Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the buns for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.

Serve: Let the sticky buns cool for about 5 minutes in the pan before inverting onto a serving platter. Enjoy your Bourbon Maple Pecan Sticky Buns warm!
