1 clove garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 egg, beaten

For the Gravy:

2 tablespoons olive oil

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 cups beef broth

1 teaspoon soy sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Mashed Potatoes:

2 pounds potatoes, peeled and quartered

1/2 cup milk

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Salt to taste

Fresh chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Beef Patties:

    - In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and beaten egg. Mix until just combined.

      - Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties.

        Cook the Beef Patties:

          - Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a drizzle of oil.

            - Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

              Make Gravy:

                - In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Sprinkle the flour over and whisk together to form a roux, cooking for 1 minute until golden.

                  - Gradually whisk in the beef broth and soy sauce. Bring the gravy to a simmer, stirring frequently until it thickens (about 5 minutes). Season with salt and pepper to taste.

                    Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:

                      - Boil the quartered potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain well.

                        - In a mixing bowl, mash the potatoes using a potato masher or ricer. Add milk and butter, stirring until creamy and smooth. Season with salt to taste.

                          Serve:

                            - On each serving plate, place a generous scoop of mashed potatoes. Top with a beef patty and ladle over the rich gravy. Garnish with fresh chives if desired.
