Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 medium onion, finely diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 cup beef broth

1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)

2 cups mashed potatoes (homemade or store-bought)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Sauté Vegetables: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Prepare the Beef Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with the sautéed onion and garlic. Add Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Mix until well combined.

Form Patties: Shape the beef mixture into 4 equal patties.

Brown the Patties: In the same skillet, brown the patties on both sides for about 4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

Assemble the Bake: In a baking dish, pour the beef broth and cream of mushroom soup at the bottom. Add the frozen mixed vegetables evenly over the soup. Place the browned hamburger patties on top.

Top with Mashed Potatoes: Spread the mashed potatoes generously over the hamburger patties, smoothing out the top.

Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the mashed potatoes.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious Amish Hamburger Steak Bake!
