Ingredients

1 lb chicken breast tenders

1 cup buttermilk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

Olive oil spray

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken: In a mixing bowl, combine the chicken tenders and buttermilk. Cover and let them marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour. This will ensure they stay moist and flavorful.

Prepare the Coating: In a separate shallow dish, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.

Breadcrumbing Station: In another shallow dish, place the breadcrumbs. For extra flavor, feel free to add some dried herbs to the breadcrumbs if desired.

Coat the Chicken: Remove the chicken tenders from the buttermilk, allowing the excess to drip off. First, dip each tender in the flour mixture, coating evenly. Shake off any excess flour. Next, dip the floured chicken back into the buttermilk, then roll it into the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to ensure the crumbs adhere.

Prepare the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

Arrange the Chicken Tenders: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil. Place the coated chicken tenders in a single layer in the basket, making sure they do not overlap. You may need to work in batches.

Air Fry the Tenders: Spray the tops of the chicken tenders with a light layer of olive oil. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 75°C).

Serve: Once done, remove the chicken tenders from the air fryer and let them rest for a minute. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as honey mustard, ranch, or BBQ sauce.
